Learning Through the Process of Inquiry...
I specifically chose this entry as an example of critical thinking because that is, essentially, what I felt I was doing in this excerpt. This entry was a response to the quote, "Inquiry-driven learners respectfully question not only their own predespositions-including the filters through which they process new information-but also existing literature, conventional wisdom and the perspective of authorities. In so doing, they challenge their own viewpoints and perspectives, along with those of others as they sift and winnow through ideas in the dogged pursuit of truth." I feel as if this particular daybook entry exemplified my application of critical thinking as I took the given quote and thoroughly analyzed and deconstructed its contextual value while conveying what the quote meant to me. In my opinion, critical thinking requires interpretation and appraisal; interpretation being the ability to evaluate and understand information and appraisal being the ability to take the comprehended information and apply it to or find significance as it applies to your life. I feel like these are the two skills I was required to utilize in this entry, thus, making it a example of critical thinking to me.
